Honoring All Who Served

The Management Solutions family of businesses offers gratitude to veterans of all branches of the military: Thank you for your sacrifice, your bravery, and the example you set for us all. In short, thank you for your service! We are particularly grateful to the veterans in our company – Paul Darling, Kevin Hendricks, Brian Manus, and Eddie Washington – for the leadership they have demonstrated and the sacrifices they have made to defend our freedom. “Every day you wake up in a free country is a good day, and we have our veterans to thank for that,” says CEO Misty Mayes, “Management Solutions is proud to employ veterans and their families in our work to provide project management expertise to the US government.”

You might wonder why November 11 was chosen as the day to honor veterans. “Every year, Veteran’s Day falls on the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour,” says Paul Darling, Senior Project Manager at Management Solutions and a US Army veteran. That’s because World War I ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the fighting ceased with the signing of an armistice. As President Woodrow Wilson stated in his proclamation, “"To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations." A congressional act, approved May 13, 1938, made Nov. 11, a federal holiday. It’s worth noting that Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, while Memorial Day, a federal holiday on the last Monday in May, honors those who have died while in military service.

At Management Solutions, we believe that not only should we thank all current and former members of the Armed Services this Veterans Day, but we should resolve to thank them throughout the year for the vital service they perform for our country.
